Who we are

SCOTT EVELEIGH – President

I’ve lived in Calgary my whole life and have spent a lot of time out in the mountains hiking, scrambling and climbing.
Recently, I’ve spent the majority of my summers discovering and developing new bouldering areas.
I hope to share and preserve the high quality bouldering that is found in Western Alberta.

Tristyn Butler – Vice President

Tristyn Butler joined the WABA in the summer or 2023 as the new Vice President.

He is an Alberta local with a love for the outdoors. That passion took him to the USA, where he spent several years dirt bagging and traditional climbing.

In recent years he has sunk his teeth deep into the Alberta bouldering scene. Most weeks regardless of weather he is out there pulling hard.

Alessandro Roome-Sandrin – CASA Rep

Born and raised in Calgary, Alessandro spent his formative years dreaming of one day leaving Alberta. He first started climbing while attending the University of Calgary in 1999. Those early sessions between class while working on a double major in Chemistry and Environmental Science, were split between bouldering in the cave and learning to trad climb on the lead wall. After graduating and spending a year living the climber dirtbag life, unsure of what to do next, he asked his father for a part time job in the family renovation business so that he could continue to climb four days a week. 16 years later he is now the owner of the longest running residential renovation company in Calgary, Sandrin Construction Ltd.

While not an especially gifted, strong or skilled  by modern standards he is well-rounded, having spent time climbing ice, mixed, trad, sport climbing and more recently bouldering.  As a builder himself, He understands how much work goes into building and maintaining climbing areas. Frequent climbing trips to well maintained areas have left a lasting impression  of the importance of local stewardship.  Well maintained areas don’t just last longer, they are more enjoyable to climb at.

Keith Nalepa – Secretary

Keith joins the WABA board with a passion for bouldering and experience working in the climbing industry. Having started climbing in 2005, he was quickly drawn to the adventure and community. He has traveled throughout Canada and the USA on bouldering trips and enjoys bouldering in Alberta’s many great locations.

Soon after he started climbing, he began working at the CCC as desk staff, instructor and some route setting. That lead to a Sales position at Flashed, where he is currently the Sales Director / Office Manager and has been there for the past 13 years.

Keith is excited to join the WABA board and help the community enjoy the bouldering Alberta has to offer.

Stef Kujawa – Director of communications

Stef Kujawa has joined the WABA board as Director of Communications.

She is a climber based in Calgary but spent a few years exploring climbing areas in Australia and USA.

She is excited to settle in Alberta and explore all that the local climbing has to offer.

Stef has a passion for photography, the climbing community and building new connections.

You’ll often find her out bouldering every weekend, punting off climbs and taking pictures while making new friends.

Brian Henderson – Treasurer

With an eagerness to support Alberta’s bouldering community, Brian joined WABA as Treasurer in the summer of 2024.

Originally born in Vancouver, Brian moved to Edmonton in 2014 to attend the University of Alberta where he was introduced to bouldering by a group of friends. Immediately obsessed with the sport, he has since moved to Calgary to be closer to Alberta’s climbing areas.

Brian has pinky promised not to embezzle funds while operating as Treasurer.
